Editor’s Note: The Following is an abridged version of a story written as part of a collaboration with The Globe and Mail. The story originally appeared on November 13, 2015.

We felt so grown up, eating burgers at Aris on our lunch breaks. Sometimes it was even with boys or girls we liked.
